Spring Equinox

Usually by this time of the year we are crazy to get outside somewhere; have a picnic or something. Exercise frenzy is in the air, everyone is getting ready to be in shape for the coming summer.

We make sure there is a live plant from the household of each of the Witches present at the Sabbat Circle. We will need to bless each plant as the Spokes-plant. This Spokes-plant will carry the blessing back to the other plants and animals in the house of the Witch.

At the completion of the Circle, before the Dance, each Witch brings her plant to the center of the Circle. Don't put them near the Altar because there is too much fire upon it. The fire causes the plants to get very excited; the wrong mood for the plants.

Groom the plants and re-pot them. Talk to it and the Witches present about its beauty. Tell of the joy it brings to you and the rest of your household. At the completion of this task, everyone forms a linked circle around the plants. Start the Dance while placing the energy from the Dance into the blessing of the plants. The words for the dance can be:

If we perform this ritual outside, we ask the forest to bless us. We will dance or meditate until we feel we are one with the forest and at peace with it. Continue the ritual with the Drawing Down of the Moon.

Return home and touch each plant and animal in our home, blessing them and telling them about your experience in the forest.

March 21 is the Spring Equinox.
Persephone is the All Seeing Eye. She is the All Powerful.
She is the Moon and Goddess of the Moon.
She favors the colors green and silver.
She receives and gives riches, gold and silver.
Air and fire, inspiration and thoughts are her domain.
Persephone lives in the Moon and all that belongs to Luna is Hers.
Numbers 9 and 18 are sacred to Her.
Cancer is Her zodiac sign.
She is the foundation of anything and the fence that surrounds it.
Her house of influence is pure and clear.
She is the 4 nines and the Chariot in the Tarot.
As the perfected Woman, She is the vulva, the spine, the buttocks and anus (Eye of Hoor).

Her animals are the elephant, crab, turtle and sphinx.
Plants favored by Persephone are the mandrake, damiana and the lotus.
Rock crystal and amber are Her stones.

The perfumes comprise jasmine, ginseng, and all odoriferous roots.
Vegetable drugs preferred by Her are orchid root and watercress.
She governs the South-east wind and direction.

March 20 begins Spring.

The synonyms for Spring are: arise, rise, originate, derive, flow, issue, emanate, proceed, stem. A shared meaning is to come up or out of something into existence.

A spring is a source of supply; especially a source of water issuing from the ground. It is also an ultimate source, especially of action or motion. Another related word, Springtide, means a time or season of growth or development. This is the season between winter and summer. In the northern hemisphere Springtide is celebrated between the March equinox and the June solstice. A spring is also an elastic body or device that recovers its original shape when released after being distorted. This indicates to me that Spring will always return.
